Meet Elderslie's Freestyle National Champions Freestyle Artist: Naomi Adam and Camera: Luke Carter Synergy was created in moment of "where to from here?". After a weekend of doing a few skydives together and seeing the bond that was presenting itself in the skies, it became apparent that a team was being born. Naomi Adam and Luke Carter have around 10 years experience in the sport: Naomi has over 750 jumps and Luke over 1300.
Luke and Naomi officially formed their team in March 2003. By the end of the Australian National Parachute Championships (January 2004) Synergy had completed 100 jumps together. Synergy competed at these Championships in Corowa, NSW, and for their first competition they walked away with a gold medal. Not bad for a first effort. Most recently, Synergy have again won the National Championships in January of 2006 held at Toogoolawah, QLD.
Whilst Synergy were selected to represent Australia at the World Championships in 2004, they decided that due to financial reasons and the chance to better their performance it would be better to work on their performance to increase their chances at the World Championships to be held in Germany 2006.
Naomi and Luke have been following a two year training plan with the ultimate goal of representing Australia at the 2006 World Championships and achieving a medal-winning result.
Naomi Adam - Freestyle Artist
Both members of Synergy completed their student training at Newcastle Sport Parachute Club at about the same time. Naomi has concentrated on freestyle throughout her skydiving.
Naomi has a full time job outside of skydiving as an Editorial Director for the Medical Education agency IntraMed.
Luke Carter - Freestyle Skydive Cameraman
Skydiving History - Luke started skydiving in 1996 at the Newcastle Sport Parachute Club. After a short time in the sport, he pursued his passion for photography to the skies and hasn't looked back.
Luke has completed over 1000 jumps to date and has also participated in various parachute displays including the Wardbirds over Scone Airshow. On this display Luke was flying his parachute around with a 400sqft flag flying below him while a trusted pilot flew around him in close proximity with smoke trailing behind.
Luke is a full time employee of the Federal Public Service.
